"We are not human beings having a Spiritual experience. We are Spiritual beings having a human experience." -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

I have been companioning people as they seek a closer relationship with the Holy Presence (God) since 2010 when I completed a two-year program in Spiritual Direction at the Providence Renewal Center in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

Following an extensive career in Mental Health and Employee Assistance practice I followed a call into full time ministry in 2004 when I was ordained an Episcopal priest.

I am a snowbird and St. Peter's Episcopal in Litchfield Park is our winter home parish. What that means for Spiritual Direction is that I see my Arizona based 'directees' (someone with whom I am walking as they seek a deeper relationship with God) here while I am here and by Skype when I am at our summertime home in Edmonton. This has been a new and very effective way to be together as director/directee as we stand on Holy Ground through the means of cyberspace.

Though trained in the Christian tradition of accompanying another, I am open to exploring with those who have a spiritual thirst regardless of where they find themselves on the journey. This includes that group which often says "I am Spiritual but not religious." For me, the essence of the Holy is Compassion and Inclusion.

"God loves each of us as if there were only one of us." -Saint Augustine

I began my professional life as a teacher, primarily with children with learning difficulties and with youth at risk. After staying at home for many years with our children, I went back to school earning a Masters of Divinity in 2006. Two years later I began the two year training program in spiritual direction. Since graduating I have journeyed with people of different denominations and theological understandings. It remains a privilege to learn and grow in faith and understanding with those I companion.

The interest in Spiritual direction/accompaniment comes primarily from my personal involvement. Many times during my adult life, I have experienced spiritual direction in retreats and personally. These have been and continue to be times of spiritual insight, growth and deepening connection with our Loving Creator. It is my constant prayer that as I journey with another, this will be our experience too.

Personally I have a strong commitment to social justice activities and ecumenism. My family and I spent a year in Belize doing mission work with people of varied backgrounds. I am currently involved in supporting and journeying with newly housed individuals as they adjust to life off the streets with members from several other church communities. I also have extensive experience facilitating grief support groups and journeying with the bereaved.

I am a Canadian who spends several months of the year living in Surprise. Spiritual direction/accompaniment has successfully continued with people according to their individual desires and needs despite the temporary absences. I see this being the same possibility for those I may journey with in Arizona.

"The fullness of joy is to behold God in everything. God is the ground, the substance, the teaching, the teacher, the purpose and the reward for which every soul labors." -Julian of Norwich

St. Julian's words capture what I believe about my spiritual journey and yours as well. Beholding God in everything is where lasting joy is to be found. My spiritual practice is grounded in meditation and contemplation, attention to dreams, and the spiritual intention and practice of each of our six church seasons.

I am an ordained Episcopal priest and have served as Rector of St. Peter's since 2000. I was trained at the Haden Institute, a two-year Jungian-based Spiritual Direction program.

"Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7

I have been companioning people on their faith journey since 1998, meeting with people of all faith traditions and life situations. I was trained in the Benedictine Spiritual Formation Program in Colorado Springs, CO, and later facilitated the program in Denver for two years. Prior to that, I was a CPA in public practice for many years. I'm a "cradle" Roman Catholic who now primarily worships with the Episcopalians and respects people wherever they are on the journey.

"What good is it for a person to gain the whole world - and lose their Soul?" -Jesus

I love all bookstores and bakeries. There is nothing better than a quiet morning, a large leather chair, a cup of bold black coffee, and a "good book." Next to that, I love sharing the fruits of my learning with friends.

I was born in 1936 in Santa Maria, CA. After time in the Air Force and college, I enjoyed a career as an Engineer/Manager initially in aerospace, then later with IBM, and finally, as a management consultant. After a soul-searching "wake up call," I was ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1975 and worked in parish ministry for 23 years. After retiring in 1998, I continued my learning by exploring many holistic health modalities, seeking to discover the balance between science, medicine, religion, and metaphysics.

My wife, Sandra, and I enjoy our two Golden Retriever sisters, Missy and Angie, and share our time between our homes in Surprise, AZ, and Bainbridge Island, WA. With wonderful family and friends, I feel very blessed indeed. Thank you, God.
