Veterans' Ministry

Veteran’s Ministry

Our Vision is to help connect Veterans and their families with the local resources they might need. We connect Veterans who need help or access to resources, to those in the community who want to and can help.

We also want to increase the community’s awareness of veterans’ needs, issues, and events.  It is taking affirmative action that assists veterans and organizations that support veterans, families, and survivors.

Find ways to provide food, shelter, clothing, furniture, transportation, healthcare, service dogs, and other essentials appropriate for veterans. In addition, to steer veterans to help with filing claims for veterans’ benefits.

St Peter’s has been involved in helping Veteran’s since 2016, when our congregation became involved with feeding the Veteran’s at the US Vet’s facility on Grand Avenue, in Phoenix.  Our volunteers prepare a nutritious meal to serve these men and women on the fourth Friday of the month.  Other Episcopal churches in our diocese, fulfill this need on the other Fridays of the month.

What is the Maricopa County Veterans Stand Down? What happens at these events, and when do they take place?

The Veterans Stand Down is a one-day event that provides veterans a variety of services and goods. Annually about 100 volunteers and over 60 agencies provide goods and information for veterans. Some services include dental work (fillings and extractions), haircuts, eye tests, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, tax service, clothing, and food.  Annually, 300+ veterans attend the event.  Check our website to learn how to get involved.
